Our Vision & Mission
Statement

Vision

Chivirikani Primary School will strive to provide learners with quality education and life skills to enable them to cope with the changing world.

Mission

The mission of Chivirikani Primary School is to be the best learning institution by providing human and physical resources, quality teaching through dedication, competency as well as a safe environment.

Our History

Chivirikani Primary School started functioning in 1992.  Chivirikani which is the Tsonga name, meaning:  STRIVE FOR HARD WORK. Chivirikani Primary School offers both Xitsonga and Isizulu languages  It is situated at KATLEHONG GARDENS corner SONTONGA & MAHLANGU STREET.   It is surrounded by informal settlement.  It has got 1,464 learners, 36 educators, 6 grade R practitioners and 8 non-teaching staff.

Chivirikani is faced with 80% unemployment parents who struggle to pay school fees for their children.  We have more than 600 orphans, poverty is very rife.  With so many challenges the school is but surviving under the circumstances.  We have very serious needs such as additional classrooms, we don’t have an admin block, no laboratory to mention but just a few.

Our current feeding scheme is battling to feed the enormous number of hungry learners.  Due to the shortage of facilities such as fully equipped kitchen and cooking utensils.  We are no exception to the distractive pandemic that our learners are suffering, such child headed families. Fortunately our school learners are the beneficiary to scholar transport and are spared from walking very long distances to get to school.  We need people to come out and assist in food gardening and food parcels where even our community can benefit.

Some learners are heading families.  Some of our learners are infected.  As a school we are providing the least by giving the food parcels, clothing donated by community members.  Teachers also donate food and clothing and even adopt them.

Our school does not have the library except that a class was converted to be a mini library donated by Children Trust Fund.  As a school we have no computers centre , which becomes a major need for our learners to have in order to cope with this technological world.  Due to lack of admin block our Educators are no exception but to share toilets with learners.

The Success and fruits of Chivirakani Primary as it still stands and achieving best today comes from the leadership of our former Principals who became the heroes and heroines of our society education whom we salute for their excellent and profound leadership such
